Building Bridges Radio presents this 27 minute radio program. TO LISTEN CLICK ON L.A. INDYMEDIA AUDIO LINK BELOW

Under U.S. war and occupation, Iraq is being looted by corporations like Bechtel , and Haliburton – the same kinds of union-busting corporations that attack workers here at home.

As a result, Iraqi workers face mass unemployment, and low pay. Under U.S.
Military occupation unions are illegal in most industries. The new unions which were organized with the fall of Saddam are being suppressed now by the U.S. occupation authorities and unionists have been arrested. And the stage is being set for the mass privatization of Iraqi industries to American companies which will cause further layoffs and erosion of the living standards of all Iraqi’s .Working people in the U.S. are paying for all this with the lives of U.S. soldiers and the waste of $150 billion of our tax money that is badly-needed for human services.

U.S. Labor Against the War recently sponsored a trade union fact-finding commission to Iraq whose members are now touring this country .Two members of that delegation, International Longshore and Wharehouse Union Local 10 executive board member Clarence Thomas and journalist David Bacon recently spoke at Local 1199 SEIU in N.Y.C.

Building Bridges is regularly broadcast over WBAI, 99.5 FM in the N.Y.C Metropolitan area on Mondays from 7-8pm EST and streamed at http://www.2600.com/offthehook/hot2.ram

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
