On December 18, 2018, State Supreme Court Judge Ann Marie Taddeo ruled that the City of Rochester's policy of bluring video and removing sound from requested body worn camera footage via the Freedom Of Information Law (FOIL) and then charging the requester to pay an exorbitant amount of money to replace the sound and video without stipulating any FOIL redaction exemptions, violates FOIL law in New York State. The case, Forsyth v. City of Rochester and Rochester Police Department was sent back to the FOIL office for reconsideration. Read the full decision below by clicking on the PDF.
