Recently Elizabeth McGriff and another home defender, Barbara Horton, met with the the chief of the Civil Bureau in the Monroe Co Sheriff's office in search of security where they rest their heads at night. The chief offered a brief break in Ms McGriff's case, but said they will be coming to remove her from her property as early as April 1st. It was even joked about that maybe it would be a surprise on April 1st since this day is known as the national pranking holiday "April Fools".
Wrongful eviction is not funny to us. Corporate greed is not funny to us. Vacant houses are not funny to us. A person's security in tAheir own home is not funny to us. Inequality is not funny to us. Families on the street are NOT FUNNY to us.
We will not stand for this injustice while our Sheriff's department, working against our community for out of state corporations, jokes about Elizabeth McGriff and her family's security in their home.
We've done it before and we are going to do it again.
We've stood together in solidarity and kept the McGriff's in their home another month and a half since our last rally in the freezing snow back in February.
The Sheriff's department admitted our intimidation encouraged them to back down in the past.
Together we are unstoppable, another world is possible.
Let's do this!!

Rochester resident, Elizabeth McGriff of 618 Cedarwood Terrace, facing eviction, pledges to stay in her home with the support Take Back the Land Rochester. She has attempted to negotiate with Midfirst Bank to work out a fair settlement for her to stay in her home. They are not cooperating fairly. We need to help show support for justice within our community. Your presence could help the McGriff family stay warm this winter.
Stand with Elizabeth and Take Back the Land in solidarity.
