In Rochester: Rev. Graylan Hagler disinvited to speak on Palestine, sent death threats
Primary tabs
So Witness Palestine Rochester is going to have a kick off event--Connecting the dots: Ferguson to Palestine--with Rev. Graylan Hagler to start their film series season at the Little Theatre. Rev. Hagler was scheduled to speak at Colgate Rochester Crozer DIvinity School, but was dis-invited and has been receiving death threats. Witness Palestine Rochester is scrambling for a new venue and Rev. Hagler says he is committed to speaking in Rochester.
Christians United for Israel (CUFI), a hard-line right-wing Evangelical Christian Zionist group; Roc4Israel, a local pro-Israel group; and the Jewish Federation “pressured and threatened the Divinity school to cancel my speaking engagement,” Hagler told Mondoweiss.
This past week, Rev. Hagler also received numerous death threats via phone and email. In some of the phone calls, Hagler said those threatening him identified themselves as members of CUFI. They said things like “We are going to kill you in the name of Christ if you come to Rochester” and “I hope you come here so I can spit in your face.”

New venue!

Rev. Graylan Hagler speaking event moved due to death threats.
The Rev. Graylan Hagler, Pastor of Plymouth Congregational Church UCC in Washington, DC, who was scheduled to speak on the topic “Connecting the Dots: Ferguson to Palestine” in Rochester on Thursday evening has been forced to switch venues due to death threats.
Hagler said he received phone calls in which the callers threatening him identified themselves as members of CUFI, a rightwing evangelical Christian Zionist group. CUFI appears to have local Rochester connections. Hagler believes the local Roc4Israel group was also behind the threats. The callers said, “We are going to kill you in the name of Christ if you come to Rochester,” and “I hope you come here so I can spit in your face”.
Hagler will speak about “Connecting the Dots: Ferguson to Palestine” at:
The German House, 315 Gregory Street, Rochester
On Thursday, September 24, at 7:30 pm
The talk is being sponsored by Christians Witnessing for Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace - Rochester chapter.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations welcome.
