Demonstrate February 23: No U.S. Backing for Israel’s Apartheid Wall! Stop the Wall Now!

This is a post from the Lackawana Discussion Group, which does rights work in Western NY. It calls for a Rally February 23 to oppose Isreal's Apartheid wall. This will take place at 5pm, 2/23 at Elmwood and Bidwell in Buffalo. <!--break--> The Palestinians have called for urgent action worldwide to stop Israel’s Apartheid Wall. The Wall is destroying civilian areas and devastating civilian life and it is being used to openly seize more Palestinian land and resources, all contrary to international law. The Palestinians have demanded that the International Court of Justice look into the matter and made clear their stand that Israel’s Wall is a crime. February 23, when the Court begins hearings on the Wall, has been declared a day of action in Palestine to stop the Wall. The Palestinians have also called on all concerned internationally to take action to demand that the Wall be stopped and reversed. The Lackawanna Discussion Group is calling on the people of Lackawanna, Buffalo and all concerned to demonstrate February 23 to demand an end to U.S. backing for the Wall and that Israel stop and reverse construction. This is an urgent matter of dignity and rights. Like all Israeli aggression and genocide, the Wall could not be built without U.S. funds and equipment, such as the giant bulldozers necessary to raze Palestinian homes and farms and put in place the giant concrete barriers for the Wall. The Wall can also not go forward without U.S. political support and blackmail against governments opposing the Wall. For example, a UN resolution condemning the Wall and demanding that Israel halt and reverse construction has been passed by the General Assembly. As regularly occurs when it comes to matters to end the occupation and defend Palestine, the U.S. defies the UN resolutions and blocks any Security Council actions, enabling Israel to ignore them. This has occurred hundreds of times and is happening yet again. The Wall is a hated expression of U.S-Israeli aggression and genocide against the Palestinian peoples and must come down! It is being used to annex Palestinian lands, isolate and surround whole towns, grab water resources, destroy agriculture and protect illegal Israeli settlements. It is yet another effort to eliminate the Palestinians as a people and block them from achieving sovereignty. This is a crime!
