The Changing Hospital System in Rochester (legislature will speak at public library)

Health care is a huge local issue. I don't have health care. This could be a good oppurtunity to ask how we'll all be covered. We know it's not lack of facilities or profit that keep us from coverage.

FYI from library pamphlet:

Tuesday February 17th, Central Library (115 South Avenue) 12:12-12:52pm

Genesee Hospital closses and Highland and Park Ridge expand their emergncy departments. St. Mary's closes and some suggest Strong is trying to dominate health care in Rochester. Community rating for heath care, long an example of community cooperation in Rochester, is at risk. Where's our health care system going locally? And who's making the decisions? Join doctors and consumer advocates as we all get a better handle on the state of health care in Rochester.

Speakers: Bill Benet, Monroe County Legislature, and director, Rochester Council on Occupational Safety and Health; Rene Reixach, Attorney and former director, Finger Lakes Health Care Systems; a doctor TBA.

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
