We’re so attached to the myth, so addicted to the sleep and the dreams it provides, that the Brahmins always prevail. What difference does it make if our vain and fearless leaders are naked if no one sees it? What difference does it make if we die if we’re not aware of it? Are we the proverbial tree that’s falling in the woods? <!--break--> The holocaust occurring today is on a planetary scale and threatens the survival of our children and grandchildren. Yet we’re clinging to the same old myths of America, beliefs our leaders nakedly mock with impunity. We look the other way, if we see anything at all…Pataki can fly high with his wife on public business and stay at a billionaire’s house, pass favors around to his rich constituents as he pleases, and have the gall to not raise the minimum wage or eliminate “estate taxes” on the less fortunate. He and the Legislature favor Medicaid reform that will restrict patient care, yet he can air TV commercials in a non-election year touting his Child Care Plus policy, which is meaningless if that child’s family structure is decimated by the system’s numerous other policies that are working against them.
