"Good News from Main and Clinton"
FROM THE BUSINESS PAGES:
Preparations are underway to open a new
record/music store near the Main and Clinton
intersection. This brings to twelve the number of
stores and restaurants that would be destroyed by the
current RGRTA plan. No word yet on whether they will
be open sundays.
HEADLINES;
The RGRTA is obligated by the SEQR and NEPA
laws to release a FINAL eis/ response to the Draft
EIS within roughly 45 days from end of comment period.
They have to explain how the concerns will be resolved
or why it is not necessary to.
This would seem a difficult task after receiving
letters from so many thoughtful and knowlegable
sources expressing a myriad of concerns.
Mayor Johnson's letter (see attachment), in addition
to asking many difficult and wide reaching questions,
also identifies the seven actions that will be
necessary for City Hall (often including City Council)
to take in various officially stipulated actions
necessary for this "involved agency" to take during
the project.
Reading it, you get the feeling the April or May
start date for demolition was a little premature.
