Rochester's wealthy politicians say the poor's taxes are not enough
Primary tabs
Republicans in the county legislature tonight passed their 2004 county budget plan. They raised property taxes through the roof, cut millions of city services, cut the nursing program for city schools, and more.
Members of RCAN have called for a public demonstration at the Liberty Pole in downtown Rochester at 5pm. Call your friends and family, we need to tell Jack Doyle to can this crap!
THE STATISTICS SO FAR:
5,000,000$ in cuts to county services and support, 985,000$ cut from the city school's nursing program (ENDING it), 750,000$ cut from the sherrif's department. The republicans, usually the ones crying for an end to tyrannical government, increased property tax to 107$ per year per 100,000$ in property.
Democrats have mentioned that they were angry at the decision, yes, but are they going to do anything about it?
Rochester city residents are calling for a public demonstration against this injustice. The bureaucrats who managed to bumble away 41.7 million dollars (our deficit) should be eating their own debts- not taking it out on the city's poor. WE WILL MEET AT 5:00 PM AT THE LIBERTY POLE, DOWNTOWN ROCHESTER.
Bring signs, placards, whistles, bells, W2's, air horns, and your unchecked aggression.
TELL THE COUNTY LEG WE WONT GO ALONG; WE WILL NOT SUPPORT THEIR WAR ON THE POOR!
