Today the War stopped by to say, "Hello"

One of my old students stopped by to say hello, Direct from Bagdad
I work in a school and I meet a lot of kids. One of my past graduates (Class of 2001) stopped by to say hello. He enlisted in the Army and reported for Basic in the summer of 2001. We all know what happened in September, no need to go into it. I asked him where he was stationed and he said that his unit was deployed and for the last seven months he has been in Bagdad. He was home on leave (and was lucky to get it - some NCO didn't bother to tell him in a timely manner, just a fluke that he found out that he had leave coming up) and has only been home for five days. I asked him all the basic questions and he gave all the basic answers.
Then I asked him, "Would you tell anybody to enlist now?" He looked me in the eye and responded, "Hell NO!!!"
