Jason Crane Gets Highest Green Vote Percentage in Monroe County History, 1st Green to be Endorsed by Local Labor
(ROCHESTER) Nov 10 -- Thanks to the support of thousands of voters and many dedicated volunteers, Jason Crane's campaign for the Rochester City Council's East District has made political history by getting the highest vote percentage of any Green to ever run for office in Monroe County. Unfortunately, Crane was not elected to the Council. However, his showing as a third party candidate in a race with a strong incumbant from a major party was impressive and bodes well for Crane's political future in Rochester, as does the fact that he was the first candidate to challenge for this seat in 16 years.
Crane's campaign incorporated several other firsts. Crane was the first Green to get the endorsement of Rochester's Labor Council, as well as BENTE-AFSCME Local 2419 and SEIU Local 200United. These endorsements reflect Crane's long commitment to labor issues and activism in our area, and are the result of these organizations having the vision to recognize that the Green Party is a friend to labor and working people.
Crane's campaign focused on re-invigorating citizen involvement in the community and addressing the economics problems of poverty and job loss in the East District. The strength of his performance in the race and the issues he addressed are a major step forward in establishing the legitimacy of the Greens in Monroe County. Thanks again to everyone who voted or volunteered for the campaign. This campaign was a major success for Jason and the Green Party of Monroe County, and it could not have happened without your help.
In the coming weeks, watch for an exciting new electoral effort. Stay tuned at www.jasoncrane.org.
