Oneida Crisis
Primary tabs
Imminent demolition.
Solidarity requested.
["Diane Shenandoah just read me the court order from tribal court informing the final four families are to vacate their homes by October 26th (this coming Sunday) so their homes can be demolished - probably early Monday morning although it is possible demolition could happen on Sunday as Halbritter is Seventh-day Adventist.
"They would like to set up a peace camp ASAP with people bringing tents or campers sleeping bags and, of course food ( and paper products) as they can't provide such things.
"The Shenandoahs have committments this weekend that are essential for financial survival."]

For Immediate Release:
ONYOTA???A:KA? PEOPLE OF THE STANDING STONE: Sako Skanko, Greetings from the 32. We are very thankful that today we are still in our homes, but we may not be by the 26th of October. Our legal teams have been working very diligently on our behalf for which we are very thankful. The tribal court decision was made last week for our homes to be demolished beginning October 26th. However we continue to remain strong in our stand of our homeland, which is protected by the Canandaigua Treaty.
We are asking for continued support through prayers in the hopes that everyone, including Halbritter and the rest of his group, will have their eyes and hearts opened by the Creator. We are also asking for building materials, building blocks for foundations, cement, wood, and financial support for our continued legal defense, etc.
We are not wavering in our belief on behalf of our children and the future generations to come. We put all of this into the hands of our Creator. We all must continue to strive to speak with a good mind and heart and use good words and our Creator will continue to protect us.
We thank you for all of your love, support, and prayers,
Diane Shenandoah (315-363-6248) and Vicky Shenandoah (315-361-5301)
