Tell Governor Paterson There is a Solution!

The SUNY Social Justice Network is calling for coordinate student strikes and demonstrations on March 25th to oppose tuition hikes and Paterson's massive budget cuts.

A short interview with University of Rochester graduate student and member of Students for a Democratic Society Ryan Acuff. I asked Ryan about a discussion he had with Dean of Students Matthew Burns and what new challenges faced the students engaged in a Palestinian solidarity occupation at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY.

Friends of Peace,

Today, Friday February 6, University of Rochester students and staff, along with other Rochester community members, with be occupying a building at the University of Rochester river campus to express our longings for peace and our solidarity with the Palestinians.

Members of the University of Rochester Administration,

The recent war and horrifying atrocities sponsored by the United States in the Palestinian territories has upset us to our core. The war on Gaza has devastated Gaza’s entire society, taken hundreds of innocent lives, destroyed much of the infrastructure including the University facilities, and only escalated their grave humanitarian crisis.

In light of the recent university occupations taking place in Britain to protest the bombing and invasion of Gaza, the University of Rochester SDS has decided to occupy a university building in solidarity with these actions, and with the people of Gaza. The occupation will begin Friday afternoon, and will continue until the U of R administration enters negotiations and reaches a favorable resolution with the students.
