The Backbone Campaign came to Rochester in April as part of their 11,000+ mile, 16 city tour around the country. The three day event was a chance for local activists to learn skills, creative tactics and just have some fun.

Day of Action for Troy Davis

On Tuesday, May 19, in solidarity with Amnesty International’s Global Day of Action for Troy Davis, Rochester’s Judicial Process Commission sponsored a noontime vigil on Exchange Street in front of the Hall of Justice. Approximately thirty people gathered with signs and t-shirts that denounce the inhumanity of the Death Penalty and call for justice for one Georgia Death Row prisoner in particular, Troy Davis.

PRESIDENT OBAMA DID NOT CREATE THIS MESS, SO LETS ALL PRAY FOR HIS SUCCESS !!!

ISN'T IT A LITTLE ODD THAT WE AS AMERICANS CAN DEMAND JUSTICE AND FAIR TRIALS WITH THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY, AND AT THE SAME TIME WHEN IT COMES FOR US AS THE LEADERS OF THE FREE WORLD TO OFFER NEW AND FAIR TRIALS FOR OUR OWN POSSIBLE INNOCENT AMERICAN CITIZENS IN GEORGIA & PENNSYLVANIA , WE CAN SOMEHOW ACCEPT THE EASIER ROUTE OF ALLOWING TWO POSSIBLE INNOCENT AMERICAN CITIZENS TO BE FALSELY EXECUTED ? IF OUR CIVILIZED COUNTRY ALLOWS THESE CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY STATE MURDERS TO TAKE PLACE IN THE NEAR FUTURE, OUR FAIR AND JUST SOCIETY HERE IN AMERICA NOT ONLY LOSES TWO POSSIBLE INNOCENT BLACK AMERICANS, BUT WE ALSO LOSE OUR INNOCENCE AS A PEOPLE WHO ALL KNOW BETTER !!!

Bank of America Bandit Strikes at the Lilac Fest

At this years Lilac Festival, park visitors have been seeing a lot about Bank of America. Behind the main stage, Bank of America was able to hang a huge advertising banner based on them sponsoring the festival. In addition, members of the newly-created Genesee Valley Earth First! group have been telling festival-goers about Bank of America in more detail.

The anti death penalty vigil was a monthly activity of the Judicial Process Commission for almost twelve years, but was suspended when the NYS courts found our capital punishment legislation unconstitutional.
