Republican billionaire Meg Whitman has stated that she will spend up to $150 million of her own money to be governor and Republican Steve Poizner wrote a $15 million check as down payment on the governor’s office. The un-contended Democrat, Attorney General Jerry Brown is hoping to challenge Meg Whitman and Steve Poizner with the backing of casinos, unions and third party committees.

While going on the attack against Jerry Brown for representing the interest of billionaires and wealthy Californians, Alexander has gone on the offensive against Republican front-runner Meg Whitman charging that “she is a corporate insider and lacks the experience to govern California.” Stewart Alexander says Jerry Brown and Meg Whitman are presenting themselves as candidates for the people; however, “they are corporateers who will support the same old politics that will only benefit the wealthy few.”

Over the last year steps taken to stabilize our economy have been the subject of harsh criticism from numerous voices. In Washington there were objections from the right helping us into a year of partisan stagnation on many critical issues. On the left many Democrats felt the same way. As the furor over the economy and healthcare heated up around August, reticence over what the protests could mean in November of 2010 only intensified the log jam.

Stewart Alexander says the most severe crisis California is facing is a leadership crisis; “After electing an actor for governor in 2003 and 2006, most Californians are reluctant to support the three choices representing the two big money parties. Republican frontrunner Meg Whitman has no political experience and Republican Steve Poizner sounds a lot like Schwarzenegger without the accent. Democrat Jerry Brown has not made his position clear on many of the major issues facing California voters.”
