The majority of Americans are tired of wars and the cost to fight these wars as the nation sinks deeper into a national recession. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have already cost $1 trillion and after one week in Libya, the cost is approaching $1 billion. When Americans are suffering cutbacks and layoffs, and 22 million Americans are out of work, the question is “Obama, where are the jobs?†<!--break--> U.S. Socialist Stewart Alexander: Americans wants jobs and peace, not war Stewart Alexander for President http://socialistparty-usa.org/ http://www.gp.org/index.php http://www.peaceandfreedom.org/home/ Within the past week, President Barack Obama has taken the American people into a third war by acting on the UN resolution to enforce a no-fly zone over Libya. President Obama’s decision to commit U.S. military forces to enforce the no-fly zone was done without the consent of Congress and has created great division within Congress and with the American People. It is not the responsibility of the president to enforce UN resolutions involving war without the consent of Congress; the president’s actions are in direct violation of the U.S. Constitution.†Socialists nationwide and America’s political left have strongly condemned President’s Obama intrusion into the ongoing protests in Libya. In a statement issued by the Socialist Party USA, “We strongly condemn the use of violence by the authoritarian Gaddafi regime to prolong its inevitable collapse. We oppose any intervention by the United States or European nations. History proves that despite rhetoric about human rights it would be done only in the interests of imperialism.†Stewart Alexander says he does not feel that President Obama is in any danger of being impeached by this Congress. “This Congress will support war above all else to advance U.S. imperialism. Presently, 46 states are in debt, the nation has a $14.3 trillion deficit, the nation is making cutback in education and social services, and millions of seniors are living in poverty. More working people are receiving public assistance than during the Great Depression. Congress is debating more deficits and budget cutbacks; however, Congress will spare no expense to protect American interest; oil.†In his online statement, Congressman Dennis Kucinich noted “The American people have had enough. First it was Afghanistan, then Iraq. Then bombs began to fall in Pakistan, then Yemen, and soon it seems bombs could be falling in Libya (the U.S. is now engaged in war with Libya). Our nation simply cannot afford another war, economically, diplomatically or spiritually.†For more information search the Web for: Stewart Alexander for President; Stewart Alexander 2012 http://www.stewartalexandercares.com/ Article by Stewart Alexander http://www.afroarticles.com/article-dashboard/myarticles/Stewart-A--Alexander/3439 Green Party Statement on Libya: http://www.gp.org/press/pr-national.php?ID=404 Socialist Party Statement on Libya and the wave of popular uprisings: http://socialistparty-usa.org/statements/libyaic31711.html Peace and Freedom Party’s statement on popular uprisings: http://www.peaceandfreedom.org/home/ SPUSA 2008 Presidential Candidate Questionnaire- Stewart A.
