Election 2012: Stewart Alexander Backing Efforts Demanding Impeachment of Clarence Thomas

U.S. Socialist Stewart Alexander is calling on the U.S. Senate to begin impeachment hearing to determine the worthiness of Clarence Thomas to continue as a member of the high court. As a U.S. Presidential Candidate, Alexander says he remains an advocate of term limits for the U.S. Supreme Court (a one 12 year term).”

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas may soon be getting that feeling again, when he was in his confirmation hearing, as Anita Hill went on the attack charging his lack of credibility to be a sitting justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. In 2011, it may be more difficult for Clarence Thomas to defend his credibility as evidence mounts showing that Thomas cross the line between judicial malfeasance and serving justice. U.S. Presidential Candidate Stewart Alexander says “Congress must act now and begin impeachment proceeding against Clarence Thomas to preserve the integrity of justice.”

According to ProtectOurElections.org, “Both Thomas and Scalia have stepped over the demarcation line between judicial malfeasance and blind justice when hearing cases before the high court.” In an article dated two weeks ago, ProtectOurElections.org reported “Justice Clarence Thomas joined Scalia when the men attended secret meetings with conservative business leaders at an event sponsored and hosted by the Koch Brothers who fund the Tea Party as well as a variety of conservative think tanks and PACs. The secret meetings were for the purpose of plotting political strategy, and both justices subsequently voted to give corporations the same free speech rights as an individual in the Citizen’s United case that allows unrestricted donations to political campaigns; including donations from foreign sources.”

There is also a problem with Thomas being able to properly complete government disclosure forms to the tune of $700,000. Under “spousal income,” Thomas accidentally put $0 where $700,000 was supposed to be. This has made Thomas the punch line for some late night talk shows; however, Stewart Alexander says there is nothing funny about an individual, being a member of the nation’s highest court, acting outside of the realm of judicial prudence.

In an article written by Cliff Schecter in the Huffington Post, “Then Senate Judiciary Chairman and current Vice President Joe Biden, as well as other Democrats who allowed this man to become a member of the Supreme Court should be supremely embarrassed to this day.” Yet how about addressing these mistakes. Schecter writes “Thomas has shown no moral compass, judicial ethics, intellectual rigor or understanding of his duties. For these reasons, Clarence Thomas should be impeached.”
