            • After running as the 2008 Vice Presidential Nominee for Socialist Party USA, Stewart Alexander has now received the endorsement of SPUSA to run as a candidate for California Governor on the ticket of the Peace and Freedom Party. <!--break--> Once again Socialist Party USA backs Stewart Alexander Stewart A. Alexander For California Governor Peace and Freedom Party 2010 http://www.stewartalexandercares.com/ February 3, 2010 After running as the 2008 Vice Presidential Nominee for Socialist Party USA, Stewart Alexander has now received the endorsement of SPUSA to run as a candidate for California Governor on the ticket of the Peace and Freedom Party. Stewart Alexander has membership in both socialist parties; he is a member on the State Central Committee (SCC) with the Peace and Freedom Party, and the California State Chair for Socialist Party USA. Stewart Alexander was a registered Democrat for more than 25 years and was involved in various political campaigns on a local and national level; however, seeing little difference between the two major parties, Alexander became actively involved with the Peace and Freedom Party in 1998. Alexander has been involved with Socialist Party USA since 2007. Alexander’s political career spans over three decades; working for the Florida Consumer Action Network in the mid 80s working as a consumer activist, and running as a candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles in 1989. Alexander was the Peace and Freedom Party candidate for California Lieutenant Governor in 2006, and two years later, the national Vice Presidential Nominee for Socialist Party USA. As California Governor, Stewart Alexander says he is committed to offering leadership that will move California forward. California is presently facing a $22 billion budget deficit; Alexander says “it is necessary to scrap the two-thirds rule for passing a state budget.” Alexander also supports appealing Prop 13 “which would require big corporations to pay more of a fair share in taxes.” Alexander has also proposed abolishing California’s Three Strikes law and abolishing California’s death penalty which has been a tremendous financial burden on the state’s budget; “I want less money for prisons and more money for education.” Alexander has introduces several plans that will bring hundreds of thousands of good paying jobs to California. A strong advocate for mass transportation and fuel efficient vehicles, Alexander says he will create tens of thousands of automobile manufacturing jobs building electric cars and developing high speed rail systems. In 2008, Alexander introduced a plan that would create good paying jobs in the building and construction industry providing low interest government loans for home improvements. Alexander says his bid to be the next California governor is a grassroots effort; “It is a campaign that is about change. The two big money parties have failed to deliver on their promises and working people are paying for their poor leadership. I believe working families are ready for change and could elect a third party candidate as California Governor in 2010.” For more information search the Web for: Stewart A. Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
