• On Tuesday, April 28, there will be a humanitarian fundraiser for Gaza in Hirst Lounge of Wilson Commons (University of Rochester) from 3:00 to 8:00pm. There will be music from 4:00 to 7:00 provided by Woodchuck and UR Hip Hop. Cheesecake and cookies will be available for $5 from the Cheesecake factory. Tickest are avaialbe at common market. T-shirts will also be available for purchase. In addition, donations will be collected starting from April 27 until May 1st in any of the following envelop drop-off locations: *Strong/Medical Bookstore *IT Center River Campus *Common Connections--Wilson 201 Checks payable to: University of Rochester On memo please write: SDS All proceeds will go to organizations that are working to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza (e.g., Doctors Without Borders, United Nations, International Red Cross) <!--break--> Aid for people in Gaza has become increasily necessary as decades of war and conflict have left many people in the Gaza strip dependent on humanitarian aid for survival. Before the recent war Gaza was already suffering from a dire humanitarian crisis with 70% of Gazans relying on external food assistance programs. Sadly, the situation has only deteriorated. During the recent Gaza War more than 1,300 people perished and 5,300 were left wounded (more than 1,800 were children) and thousands more remain homeless. The recent attacks destroyed much of Gaza 's infrastructure including marketplaces, hospitals, schools, and the University of Gaza. Access to running water and adequate health care are sparse. Any assistance you can offer will be much appreciated. (Sources: United Nations [UNRWA & UNICEF]). This is event is sponsored by Students for a Democratic Society, Students for Life, Muslim Students Association, Emergency, and UR Islamic Medical Association of North America. Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning. We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site. Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
