            • Rochester Student Anti-War Caucus Presents: <br /> <br /> Peace/Art/notWAR &#8212; a music and arts concert for Peace <br /> <br /> <b>When</b>: Saturday, March 24, 5-11PM<br /> <b>Where</b>: St. Joseph's House of Hospitality located at 402 South Ave. <br /> <br /> <b>UPDATE</b>:<br /> ROCHESTER, NY Saturday, March 24, 2007&#8212; The Rochester Student Peace Caucus will present Peace/ Art / not War , the first student organized concert and arts event for peace in the city of Rochester. <br /> <br /> This day and evening free all-ages event, located at St. Joseph's House of Hospitality 402 South Avenue, will feature music, spoken word, and graffiti mural painting. <br /> <br /> A free graffiti painting workshop takes place from 11 am to 3 pm. The graffiti mural installation and music concert/spoken word performances will go from 3 pm to 10 pm. <br /> <br /> The graffiti mural will be supervised and executed by Eder Muniz and Denis Sena of Graffiteiros, Projeto Salvador Graffita (Salvador Graffiti Project), who have received commissions from the cities of Sao Paulo and Salvadore, Brazil to reclaim public spaces formerly defaced by illicit graffiti painting and gang-related "tagging." Muniz and Sena are currently on a speaking tour across New York State, and will collaborate on the South Avenue peace mural with members of the Rochester graffiti art collective. <br /> <br /> The Rochester Student Peace Caucus, the event sponsor, is a coalition of Rochester area high school and college students who have been organizing for the past two years to raise student awareness of local, national, and international war and peace-related issues. The caucus has members from Hilton High School, Wilson High School, School Without Walls, School of The Arts, The Harley School, RIT, and The Eastman School of Music. <br /> <br /> The mural and concert will take place at St. Joseph's House of Hospitality, an historic soup kitchen and emergency shelter located in the South Wedge district of Rochester for over 75 years, which is staffed by the Catholic Workers, an organization founded on the principles of peace and justice advocate Dorothy Day. <br /> <br /> The concert will feature the local musical talents of Spirit of Ontario, Draffin, Subsoil, Deb Magone, Musicface, and more. Spoken -word performances will be provided by members of Rochester Poets Against War and Occupation. <br /> <br /> Graffiti artists are available for interview from 11am on. The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
