• Little Jerusalem Film Review Little Jerusalem (LA PETITE JERUSALEM) 2005, is an interesting film because it takes you inside a culture that is seldom seen to outsiders. It illustrates the struggles of young people when they attempt to step outside of their cultural upbringing. Little Jerusalem gives you the feeling that you are living with these characters and becoming involved in their lives.

The cast includes Fanny Valette, Elsa Zylberstein, Bruno Todeschini, Hedi Tillette de Clermont Tonnerre, Sonia Tahar, Michael Cohen, Aurore Clement, Francois Marthouret.

The main character Laura is philosophy student who is drawn to the work of Kant. Laura begins to question the beliefs of her orthodox family.Set in Paris it explores the life of a young Jewish woman of Tunisia and her romance with a Muslim man from Algeria.

It is a relevant film also because of the relationship between this young Jewish woman and a Muslim man who desire to be together despite objections on both their families sides.

2005 Cannes Film Festival: Official Selection, Critics' Week

Director/Writer: Karin Albou
Producer: Isabelle Pragier, Laurent Lavole

After studying acting, dance, Hebrew, French literature and Arabic, Karen Albou enrolled in a film school in Paris. Her first short film, CHUT, was awarded the Cinécinéma Best First Film prize. After a documentary [MON PAYS M'A QUITTÉ], she chose to talk about Algeria, her father's homeland, in her second fiction AID EL KÉBIR, winner of the Grand Prize at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival. Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning. We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site. Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
