Upon leaving the NEA in 1997, Alexander told Dance Magazine "If I am left with one overwhelming impression from my time at the NEA, it is the increasingly strong and spirited connection that has developed between the American people and the arts in their own communities." In my brief interview with Alexander she stated that she had no favorites among her films but feels that the film that made the most impact on people was Eleanor and Franklin, which portrayed the lives of the Roosevelt’s. Alexander commented on her personal/professional relationship that developed with Congresswoman Louise Slaughter during her tenure as NEA head. “It is nice to be in Louise’s District” Alexander commented during a brief speech at a reception at The Studio at Linden Oaks. Alexander hopes to be able to see some films while at the High Falls Film Festival but says that interviews restrict her ability to some degree.

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning. We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site. Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
