14 September 2005 Adapted from Press Release Today,

Red, White & Blue Party mayoral candidate Chris Maj announces his commitment to campaign thru November's general election.

Despite losing the Democratic mayoral nomination, Maj will continue to put people before party politics and wealthy campaign contributors. Maj refuses to take cash contributions to his campaign, instead encouraging supporters to download posters and voter registration forms from his website.

"If you do the math, then it's clear to see the personal money I used in my campaign is well spent. Out of almost $1 million raised by the Democratic candidates, I accounted for .08% of that figure, or about $800. My per vote cost is about the same as a gallon of gasoline."

Maj adds, "I will continue to climb higher towards the one-dollar-one-vote path of positive campaigning because I believe in putting people before profits. My better ideas to move Rochester forward are more fuel efficient -- much like my plans to create a renewable energy infrastructure and make Rochester a more self-sufficient city that builds wealth locally."

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
