Chris Hilderbrant, local disability rights activist and Green Party candidate for Monroe County Legislature, announced today that he has received the approval of the Rochester Chapter of Democracy for America (dfa Rochester). Democracy for America is a grassroots political organization which grew out of Governor Howard Dean's campaign for president in 2004. <!--break--> (Greece, NY) Chris Hilderbrant, local disability rights activist and Green Party candidate for Monroe County Legislature, announced today that he has received the approval of the Rochester Chapter of Democracy for America (dfa Rochester). Democracy for America is a grassroots political organization which grew out of Governor Howard Dean's campaign for president in 2004.<br /><br />"dfa Rochester is proud to support the candidacy of Chris Hilderbrant for Monroe County Legislature," said Andrea Digiorgio, an organizer with dfa Rochester. "Our organization is committed to assisting candidates who are socially progressive, fiscally responsible and advocate for their constiutents above all else."<br /><br />"I am proud of dfa's approval and I think this is a great sign of things to come for my campaign," said Hilderbrant. "I believe that dfa Rochester recongnizes my support for progressive values shared by the Democrats, my record of advocating for laws that are fiscally responsible, and my committment to advocating for the people I will represent in Greece and Charlotte."<br /><br />Hilderbrant played a key role in passage of two state laws in the past three years. Most significantly, Hilderbrant worked with Republican Senator Ray Meier and Democratic Assemblyman Kevin Cahill to pass the Nursing Facility Transition and Diversion Medicaid Waiver. When fully implemented, this new program will enable seniors and people with disabilities to receive needed care and support in their own home, instead of nursing homes, at less cost to Medicaid and taxpayers.<br /><br />DiGiorgio added, "We have every confidence that Chris will listen to the concerns of the voters and fight for their needs without regard to the usual political games that are so prevalent in the legislature today. A win for Chris Hilderbrant in November is a win for all of Monroe County." <br /><br />More information regarding dfa Rochester can be found at www.dfarochester.com.<br /><br />
