                • while many are gearing up to trek to the imperial capital on jan. 20 to protest the coranation events, bush,neocons the war the selection ect. many more will remain behind and let their voices be heard in their home towns what are we doing locally to let our distaste for this regime be heard? what aid and support are we offering to our fellow comrades that will take the struggle to d.c.? <!--break--> <p>january 20th 2005, inauguration day for the second  bush term.  the first inauguration day in 2001 showed the people's distain for this illegally installed figurehead, events from later in that year (sept 11 01) have forever changed our world.  this brave new world has countered the tired tactic of massive centralized protests and demonstrations.  we now live in a security culture where activism, and dissent are viewed as anti-amerikan.  there have been wide spread crack-downs, intimidation and flat out gestpo-esque tactics employed by the jackbooted jttf (joint terrorism task force) nation-wide.  going to d.c. this time it will be like entering the belly of the beast, check points, screenings, a massive security show of force, so much as a peep and the crowd is gonna face the a level of suffering that will be legendary even in hell.</p><p>the bright spot is this there those of us with the foresight, tactical and strategic genius to have seen that the days of seattle 99, chicago 68 and other such banner dates in the struggle's history no longer can be achieved, that we must evolve our tactics.  there is underway a nation-wide large scale mobilization of local activists perparing to agian take it to the streets, but not the streets of d.c. we are gonna take it to their very own streets, we are organizing locally and we will stand shoulder to shoulder with our brave brothers and sisters, in d.c and all across this enslaved nation.  with this daying looming closeer and closer let us mark this date for all the future to see as the end of the beginning, the day that our struggle became a revolt..</p><p>how can we aid our comrades sojorning to d.c.?  well material aid, housing food, transportation, logistics, communications and information.  we need to step it up and create an activist network that will give clear lines of aid to those going to the &quot;frontline&quot;.  those of us not going need to hold fundraisers, to support; the creation of legal funds, to pay for gas, and cover the costs of travel/transport.  we need to organize local skillshares for those staying home and those headed out.  in doing this the knowlege we have can be spread not only between those fighting on the local front and those going to d.c.  we will be just as prepared as those headed to what is sure to be a showdown of epic proportions.  </p><p>we need to send those brave souls armed with the very best in knowledge and support as we can provide.  we need to organize an activists early warning/communications network which will get info to and from d.c. as fast as we can.  stay back crews need to maintain constant and direct communications with thier soliders d.c. and with other cities involved in the j20 uprising. we will be able to maintain a handle on the sitiuation and knowledge is our power.</p><p>indymedia centers, blogs, cell phones and text messengers are our life line lets use them to our advantage.  this can be considered a call to action for us all.  in some places of the country (red states and blue states) the prevailing winds a vastly different, those of us in the &quot;liberated zones&quot; need to take the model of this exersise on j20 as the templated for the future of our struggle, we need to build off of this network and begin to add the struggle beyond our hometowns by and stand with those poor bastards in the red states.  every day, every hour every minute of the rest of your life should be committed to the end of the repression of this illegal regime which will be crowned agian in less than a month</p><p>to begin building for a new world free from this atrocity lets please begin this network.</p><p>contact info</p><p>below<br />e-mail <a href="mailto:resistance_2@juno.com">resistance_2@juno.com</a> <br />website:  <a href="http://www.geocities.com/resistance_front">www.geocities.com/resistance_front</a> </p>

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
