• The RNC Delegates Working Group is proud to release our latest list, now with information on over 2200 delegates to the Republican National Convention.
"How the hell can you be private if you're a delegate? That's beyond me." - actual quote from a Florida RNC delegate, on the Florida GOP keeping its list of delegates secret The RNC Delegates Working Group is proud to announce the addition of information for over 200 more delegates to the list! There are now over 2200 delegates listed. That's roughly half the total number of delegates and alternates (2509 delegates, 2344 alternates, 4853 total). Thank you for your contributions! We would like to take this opportunity to correct some errors made in a recent article by Jeff Gannon, a writer for Talon News, a Republican news service: We published the partial delegate list to the DC IMC newswire, not "the IMC". Mr. Gannon is obviously very unfamiliar with the open publishing system of the IMC network, or is deliberately misrepresenting the DC IMC. He also includes a quote by DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe and seems to imply that it was a response to our statement and release of the list, when in fact the quote was made beforehand. Mr. Gannon seems to be appalled that we mention "local contact", but what is appalling to thousands of New Yorkers is that the GOP is invading their city. The delegates should know not only what people think of the platform that they will ratify, but that they are not welcome in New York City. To those that have criticized our release of this list, we refer you again to our initial statement, made on 18 August. Where is the discussion of the issues brought up? Privacy and security are cited as concerns. Where is the privacy of citizens when the USA PATRIOT Act is the law of the land? Where is privacy when "Big Brother" in the form of government and corporations worms his way ever further into our lives? Where is security for the victims of the brutal Israeli occupation of Palestine? Where is the security for the peoples of Iraq, now bravely fighting the occupation of their country? Where was the regard for them when they faced genocidal sanctions killing upwards of 1 million? Where is privacy and security in the midst of Empire? This upcoming mobilization in New York is not about the delegates, it's about who and what is going to be affected by the Republican Party platform that these delegates will proudly put their name to and will ratify. It goes beyond that, as we raise our voices and fists and proclaim that this rotten system of capitalist exploitation and imperialist domination must be swept away. See you on the streets of New York! Shut down the RNC! http://www.RNCdelegates.com/ Instructions: Download the supplied ZIP file. It contains a CSV file (comma delimited data file). Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning. We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site. Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
