The 585 Scene Documentary Offers an Amazing Glimpse Into Rochester Music.
Primary tabs
Released last Tuesday, The 585 Scene Documentary is comprised of footage recorded a couple years ago by local filmmaker Victoria Franchi. The films role is a strange dichotomy serving both as a time capsule for local music buffs as well as a true look into the eclectic music scene we call our own. The scene has warped immensely since the initial records, some bands are no longer around, and some have had so many line up changes that it would have been hard to recognize them if there wasn’t a byline.
But the messages spoken in the documentary stand the test of time. The heart and soul musicians pour into their music, their love of our city, the trials and tribulations, and the dream of making a meek living doing what they love. The film shows a local artist’s mentality that spans both genres and years. This film is a must see for local aspiring artists as well as old school music lovers, it shows an energy that can only be found in Rochester and personally pumped me up and reminded me why I love local music so much.
