The Snowball Effect Seeks Positive Social Benefit

<p> <style type="text/css"> <!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } H5 { margin-bottom: 0.08in } A:link { so-language: zxx } --></style> </p><p style="margin-bottom: 0in">Wikipedia defines the Snowball Effect as: <b> </b><span style="font-weight: normal">Snowball Effect</span> is a figurative term for a process that starts from an initial state of small significance and builds upon itself, becoming larger (graver, more serious), and also perhaps potentially dangerous or disastrous (a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vicious_circle">vicious circle</a>, a "spiral of decline"), though it might be beneficial instead (a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtuous_circle">virtuous circle</a>). The common analogy is with the rolling of a small ball of snow down a snow-covered hillside. As it rolls the ball will pick up more snow, gaining more mass and surface area, and picking up even more snow and momentum as it rolls along.</p><p style="margin-bottom: 0in">It was that last part, about being beneficial, that inspired Ken Braley to name his new group The Snowball Effect. Little Free Library is an international project in which those who are finished reading a book they own may contribute them to the benefit of others rather than the landfill. Small boxes, often elaborately decorated, are placed in or near public places where passers-by can borrow or contribute books.
