ROSA PARKS DAY OF ACTION AGAINST WAR AND POVERTY: Dec. 1, 2005

We can't have peace in Iraq if there's no peace at home. We can't have peace at home if our government doesn't address the forces creating poverty and desperation in our cities. We can't address poverty if our government is cutting billions from services to the poor in order to finance the occupation of Iraq. On December 1, join us for a day of actions to demand a change in the priorities of our community and our nation.
STOP BUSINESS AS USUAL--No work, no school, no shopping

ALTERNATIVE SERVICE PROJECT 9am-4pm
Help out at Poor People United's Human Rights House, located at 437
Murray Street in Rochester. They need people to help with maintenance,
laundry, cleaning, and a variety of tasks to keep the institution,
which cares for people in poverty, in working order.

TEACH IN Noon-4pm Rundell Auditorium, 3rd floor, Downtown Libary
We're having a workshop from Poor People United, a workshop from RAW
called "10 Things You Can Do To Stop The War," a facilitated discussion
about how we can end war, poverty, and violence, free bag lunches, and
a whole lot more. FUNERAL MARCH AND PROTEST 4:15pm corner of Main &
State St.
We're going to have a funeral for victims of war, poverty, inner-city
shootings, and Hurricane Katrina. We're going to march to the Military
Recruiting Station, City Hall, County Legislature Building, and Federal
Building, give eulogies, and post our demands for change on the door,
Martin Luther-style. Come dressed in black.

COMMUNITY MEAL AND CONCERT after the funeral, location TBA
We're going to have jambalaya and other traditional New Orleans dishes,
and be entertained by incredibly talented students from the Eastman
Jazz Studies Program. Come celebrate our unity in the struggle for
justice, and take some time to socialize with the people with whom
you've marched!
