Frank Pommersheim is the author of three collections of poetry, Snaps: Poetry and Prose from a Family Album (Rose Hill Books, 1994), Mindfulness and Home: Poetry and Prose from a Prairie Landscape (Rose Hill Books, 1997), and Haiku for the Birds: And Other Related Stuff (Rose Hill Books, 2002). His newest book is East of the River: Poems Ancient and New (Rose Hill Books, 2008).

Pommersheim, Prof. of Law, University of South Dakota, was born in NYC but has lived in SD for more than 30 years (on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation for ten years). He serves on a number of tribal appellate courts throughout Indian country including Chief Justice for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Court of Appeals and Associate Justice for the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Supreme Court. He is the author of Braid of Feathers (American Indian Law and Contemporary Tribal Life) and numerous scholarly articles.

He has also received the University of South Dakota Belbas-Larson Award for Excellence in Teaching and the South Dakota Peace and Justice Center Reconciliation Award.
