Latest reports are confirming that the Honduran Congress has declared a State of Siege and martial law throughout the country as of 15:00 hours.
To the contrary of recommendations and international condemnations of the OAS and the UN that Roberto Michelleti step down from the Presidency, peacefully returning the Honduran Presidency to Manuel Zelaya, Michelleti is making a fleeting attempt to use his last resources with absolute martial law in the face of the increasing clamor and popular rejection of the coup throughout Honduras.

Against a background of epidemic police brutality across the country, the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Action Network convened a Community Public Hearing on Sunday, June 7, to examine the conduct of Philadelphia police and the Office of the District Attorney.
For more than seven hours, individuals and even entire families gave accounts of their experiences at the hands of police that frequently turned deadly. The picture that emerged was one of systematic violation of human and civil rights by Philadelphia police, particularly in five police districts with a heavy concentration of Black residents.

Trevor Loope might be be facing a court-martial proceeding on July 1. Or maybe the proceeding will be delayed. Or maybe (we hope) the charges against him will be dropped and he will be a favorable, non-punitive administrative separation –in effect acknowledging his PTSD and severe depression, and the failure of the military to provide the treatment that he requested upon his return from his combat tour in Afghanistan
