Rochester IMC Logo Design Contest (updated)

The Contest

Rochester IMC needs a logo design to use on stickers, posters, flyers, coffee mugs, lawn ornaments, etc. etc. If you have graphical design experience, we need your help!

Update: Originally, the contest was going to end May 7th. However, we need more submissions, so we're extending the deadline until June. The new details are below.

We're taking submissions over the next 4 weeks or so. In addition to the satisfaction of seeing your logo all over the coolest bikes in Rochester, the winner will receive an RIMC video collection, including footage from our recent interview with Naomi Klein in Toronto.

Please send submissions to ben@rocus.org — any image format is fine. Submissions must be sent by Saturday, June 7th. If you want to help decide on the logo, come to our meeting at the Anti-War storefront Thursday the 12th.

Resources

Below are some image files of the Indymedia (((i))) logo that you are encouraged to use in your design. Click on the images to see bigger versions. Of course it's not necessary, but we are fond of the way it looks. You can check out the IMC Design Wiki Page for more images to use.

Re: Rochester IMC Logo Design Contest

I guess I should clear up one thing... The contest is for a logo for printed stuff, so submissions should try to limit the number of colors used to just a 1 or 2. Each color used adds costs to the printing, so please keep it simple.

Thanks!
Ben

Re: Rochester IMC Logo Design Contest (updated)

Just jumping in as a "conceptual artist" here. That’s as good as I get so I have to make it sound artistic. I like Indymedia Arizona and Pennsylvania indymedia incorporating some meaningful local image to make it unique and stand out. Rochester... we have a few things...Fredrick Douglass, Emma Goldman, maybe incorporating something symbolic about them or something well known about the city. I like the biker holding out her fist and in her bike box in the back are tools AND a microphone, or we could add the microphone into the bikers hand, with the indymedia )))I((( symbol coming off the microphone. Just throwing out some ideas. check out the links for ideas. Sorry some URL are really long, they work and there are three of them. peace, dawn

1) images.google.com/imgres

2) PA image is idea for something symbolichttp://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://lancasterimc.wikispaces.com/space/showlogo/logo.gif&imgrefurl=http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/ImcLancasterPA&h=103&w=150&sz=4&hl=en&start=144&um=1&tbnid=bO2tXCo5kl141M:&tbnh=66&tbnw=96&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dindymedia%252Blogo%26start%3D140%26ndsp%3D20%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Dactive%26sa%3DN

3) arizona indymedia idea of a local physical feature incorporated into the image

Re: Rochester IMC Logo Design Contest (updated)

I needed to adjust that 2nd URL to make it work for me. Here's a shorter version.
