4/3: In Syracuse: Fundraiser for the New Orleans Women's Health Clinic!

Resist and Rebuild: A Cultural Event to Celebrate and
Raise Money for the New Orleans Women's Health Clinic

Join us for a night of music and poetry to celebrate
and support the work of the New Orleans Women's Health
Clinic. Over two years after Hurricane Katrina many
residents are struggling to return and rebuild their
communities. The New Orleans Women’s Health Clinic was
established by Incite! Women of Color Against Violence
in 2007 to meet the pressing health care needs of
women in New Orleans. The mission of the clinic is to
equip women with the means to control and care for
their own bodies, sexuality, reproduction, and health.
The clinic is also a community-based institution that
will enable residents to rebuild their communities and
to organize community-based strategies to improve the
social and economic health and well-being of women of
color.

Artists who are generously sharing their work include
poet, playwright, and community activist Jackie
Warren-Moore; poet and activist Minnie Bruce Pratt;
author and blues musician Arthur Flowers; singer and
organizer Colleen Kattau; jazz chanteuse Marcia
Rutledge; and vocalist and community organizer
Caroline Kim. Sponsored by 2nd Story independent book
store and coffee house, Syracuse University Women’s
Studies department, and the Activist Geographers
Grouping.

When & Where: Thursday April 3, 2008, 7pm-9pm @ 2nd
Story independent book store and coffee house, 550
Westcott Street, Syracuse. Ph: 315-299-6021. We will

which will go to the clinic. For more information,
