RGRTA's Don Riley was invited by the Southwest Area Neighborhood Association to discuss the proposed Transit Center
The topic of the proposed transit center was prominent on the agenda of tonight's SWAN (Southwest Area Neighborhood Association) meeting which was held at the James Madison School of Excellence on Genesee Street in Rochester. RGRTA's Don Riley was invited to make his presentation on the transit center to members of the association.
Riley spoke to the crowd of mainly southwest area residents and those interested in the issue, including those representing Sector 4 of the city of Rochester. He provided the crowd with an audiovisual presentation and a limited question and answer period. Riley allowed most people to field their questions, but did not allow all to speak at the forum.
Activists involved with the transit center issue were present and attempted to participate in what was billed as a public forum. Riley repeatedly assured the public present that "the mayor and the county executive"as well as members of Congress were behind the project, and stressed the need for shelter for pedestrians in Rochester.
