Re: The public option mirage

The bill, the Affordable Health Care for America Act -- H.R. 3962, is not a health reform bill. It is a give away to the health insurance industries and pharmaceutical industries. Did the Dems learn nothing from the abysmal Medicare Part D bill that was passed several years ago. Does Congress really think that negotiating drug costs isn't a industry giveaway. Also, many people do not like their health insurance plans and would be interested in a medicare type plan, yet under this bill, most people would not be eligible for it. The idea of the public option was to provide competition to the insurance companies, yet with this bill the insurance industry doesn't have to worry about that. This public option will offer no real competition and will just be another give away to the insurance companies.

It is time for people to stand up and tell Congress that we will not compromise and their constituents come before campaign contributions and their own financial and familial interests. It is time to say, we will not settle for a few less deaths because Congress can't stand up to the Corporate interests. No more deaths because of greed and corruption.

Where have you been Louise Slaughter? Maybe it is time to retire because you are not showing any leadership and definitely are not representing the best interests of your constituents.
