A letter home from the RNC

August 30, 31, and September 1 — Hey there awesome folks in my hometown whom I miss very, very much!
Writing to you from an undisclosed cubby in St. Paul at 3:30am on Monday, September 1st. It's been a really intense day and an equally intense week leading up to our trip to the RNC. At the DNC we saw police brutality up close; demonstrators were tear gassed, pepper-sprayed, beat-up, rubber-bulleted, preemptively arrested, detained, intimidated, harassed, heckled, and controlled. While there were a few demonstrators snatched up by police and a couple raids—with over 100 arrests at the Monday anti-capitalist demonstration—it didn't prepare me for pre-RNC police bullshit where after getting in around 4am, I was awakened at 8:00am to the news that 3 houses were being simultaneously raided and cameras were needed at those sites ASAP.
